According to the Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, Claudio Echeverri, the young talent from River Plate, is not in Pep Guardiola's immediate plans at Manchester City. Despite the English club signing the "Diablito" with the idea of incorporating him into their future project, the Spanish coach has reportedly decided that the Argentine midfielder needs to develop further before competing at the highest level in the Premier League.

A strategic loan for his development

Manchester City seems to have a clear plan for Claudio Echeverri. At just 17 years old, the attacking midfielder has shown outstanding potential, but Guardiola believes he still needs experience in European football. For that reason, the club is already negotiating a loan deal with Lazio, a team that could offer him regular playing time in a competitive league like Serie A.

The Italian club has gained a reputation for giving opportunities to young players and helping them grow. Additionally, Serie A is known for its tactical demands, which could help Echeverri improve his game even further.

Lazio, the ideal destination for the "Diablito"

Lazio appears to be an attractive destination for the young midfielder. Under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri, the Roman club has successfully blended experience and youth in its squad, competing in European tournaments and consistently staying near the top of Serie A.

Echeverri could find the perfect environment at Lazio to unlock his potential. Playing for one of Italy’s most prominent teams would allow him to adapt quickly to European football, while preparing him for a future return to Manchester City with more experience.

Moreover, Sarri’s playing style, which emphasizes possession and midfield creativity, seems tailor-made for a player like Echeverri, who thrives on vision and creativity.

Why is Guardiola not considering him now?

Pep Guardiola is well-known for his high standards and his preference for not rushing young talents into the first team. The Catalan coach often ensures that players are fully prepared both physically and mentally before introducing them to the intense demands of the Premier League.

In Echeverri’s case, Guardiola has reportedly decided that a loan spell at a European club is the best way to secure his development. At 17 years old, the "Diablito" has immense potential but still needs to adjust to the pace and intensity of European football before making his Manchester City debut.

Echeverri’s future in Lazio’s hands

While the negotiations between Manchester City and Lazio are not finalized yet, everything suggests that the deal could be completed in the coming weeks. The young Argentine would have the opportunity to gain valuable minutes at a competitive club, with City closely monitoring his progress.

For now, Claudio Echeverri must focus on making the most of this unique opportunity and proving that he has what it takes to succeed in European football. Although he won’t be part of Pep Guardiola’s plans in the short term, the "Diablito" remains a key investment for Manchester City’s future.
