Liverpool is looking at their options this summer to replace Jurgen Klopp this season. Klopp continues to be determined to take his one-year break from football at the end of the season, and Liverpool have no choice but to continue their search for a new manager. While the club was in a pole position to appoint Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich has complicated things, and the German giants want to appoint Alonso for themselves this summer as well. The competition is worrying Liverpool and the club might have to look at other options in case they do not appoint Alonso for next season.

Bayern Munich desires Alonso since the club will part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. Tuchel will stay with the club until the end of the season, but Bayern is working to appoint the Spanish manager for next season. This led to many reports suggesting that Bayern were ahead of Liverpool in the race to appoint Alonso. These reports did not make Liverpool back down to challenge Bayern for the Spanish manager. Liverpool will continue to try and appoint Xabi Alonso this summer but now the club are looking at other managers in case Alonso stays at Leverkusen or moves to Bayern Munich.
Football Insider reports that Liverpool has shortlisted Roberto de Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ruben Amorim as candidates to replace Jürgen Klopp. De Zerbi might be ahead of Nagelsmann and Amorim because the Italian has experience in the Premier League and is currently coaching Brighton and Hove Albion.

In an interview with FourFourTwo, Trent Alexander-Arnold talked about De Zerbi's Brighton playing entertaining football. Trent said, "I would say Brighton are the one when I’m able to watch one of their games it’s always entertaining. It’s always free flowing football. The way that they build-up and play out from the back is exceptional, really brave.”
