Liverpool has been on a mission to find a solid candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. The Reds wanted to bring in Xabi Alonso this summer, but the Spanish manager has just confirmed that he will stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season. While Liverpool fans wanted to see Alonso next season to replace Klopp, the fans still want Klopp to change his mind and stay next season. Klopp was talking in a press conference ahead of the Brighton game in the Premier League this Sunday. Klopp was asked about Alonso's decision to stay, and Liverpool fans hoped to hear the German possibly change his mind to stay at Liverpool, but he said something else.

When Klopp was asked about Alonso's decision to stay at Leverkusen, the German manager believed it was the right decision for him. Klopp said, "I can talk about being a young manager being at a club and being successful. I did pretty much the same (stayed) and never regretted it. Xabi is doing a great job there, and it's possible they can keep the team together. It's not always like that. I understand he wants to do that. For the other stuff, nothing I have to say about that to be honest."
Klopp continues to praise Alonso and says it is difficult for players to turn into coaches like him. Klopp said, "I don't think you can compare. Leverkusen are really impressive, it's not like he has built from other years. He has created a mentality that is on the pitch and is really special. You can't say for former players it might be too late or too early - I don't know."

Jurgen Klopp gave an update on the Liverpool injuries in his press conference. Klopp said, "Curtis [Jones] is in training. Ibou [Konate] was extra rest day, nothing else. Robbo [Andy Robertson] we will take it day by day. He won't train today but it's not as bad. That's fine. The other boys from next week on step by step they will join parts of team training. We will see what we do with that. They aren't too far away. They are all making their steps. It's a positive. Darwin [Nunez] did his rehab during the week, trained first day partially and since then in full training."
