Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes his former club is taking a significant gamble in the transfer market, potentially hindering their Premier League title aspirations. Despite their impressive form under manager Arne Slot, Carragher believes the squad is lacking depth in two crucial areas.

In his column for the Daily Telegraph, Carragher highlighted the need for reinforcements at left-back and in central midfield. "The lack of recruitment since the new manager joined worries me," he wrote. "Liverpool would be stronger with a left-sided defender and an extra central midfielder."

Carragher sounds alarm: Liverpool need reinforcements

Carragher emphasized that while the current starting XI is capable of achieving great things, injuries could derail their title challenge. "On current form, Slot’s starting XI is capable of winning the Premier League and Champions League," he acknowledged. "But an injury to Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah would be a big problem, and if Ryan Gravenberch is absent, the club have no natural replacement as a number six."

This analysis highlights the importance of squad depth, particularly in a demanding season with multiple competitions. While Liverpool's current form is impressive, addressing these potential weaknesses in the transfer market could be crucial in their pursuit of both domestic and European glory.
