Luis Amaranto Perea is a Colombian player who is a story of personal improvement in all its expression, given that this footballer comes from a humble family, he fought hard to become a professional player and while he was seeking the dream of playing in the elite he started working selling ice cream in order to have some extra income.

“I was the typical popsicle seller with a cart and a bell that you can see on any street in Colombia. I sold everything : ice cream, fruit popsicles, and I had a strategy that we all used: when we saw a family we would show the ice cream to the children so that the parents would start buying; then if they had bought seven or eight products, we would do the math on top of what it was worth,” Amaranto said in Soho .

However, Luis Amaranto Perea has made it clear that he never had luxuries in his childhood and youth, but his father gave him what he needed: “ My story has always been distorted: that I sold popsicles because I was dying of hunger, that I sold them at the stadium, etc. This time I want to tell it so that it is well understood. My childhood was like that of any child in Colombia. I never had luxuries, but I had enough for what I needed thanks to my father who, with great effort, managed to support six children” Amaranto said in Soho .

Luis Amaranto Perea managed to have a successful career as a defender, wearing the colours of the Colombian national team and playing for the following clubs: Independiente Medellín , Boca Juniors , Atlético de Madrid and Cruz Azul. Amaranto had the good fortune to play in Spain and mark Cristiano Ronaldo, who was in his prime with Real Madrid . Luis had the good fortune to stop one of the best players of all time as many times as he could in the Madrid derby.
