Barca's sporting director, Deco, has expressed to have tried to keep the major players in the squad while also buying new players for next season. It looks to be over for De Jong at Barca since the player is willing to leave this summer.

Sport reports that Deco has tried to open negotiations for a contract extension for Frenkie de Jong, in which the player's salary should be adjusted. The idea was to renew him until 2029, but so far, it has been impossible to reach an agreement or even negotiate. Clubs that are interested in De Jong are Manchester United and Arsenal. Another Premier League club has been added to the list of interested teams for De Jong's services. De Jong is one of the highest earners in the Barca squad, with around 37 million euros a year.
