Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain as his contract nears its end. The Egyptian forward reached a significant milestone on Tuesday, scoring his 50th goal in European competition for the Reds. His 22nd goal of the season helped secure Liverpool’s place in the Champions League knockout stages with a 2-1 victory over Lille.

Despite his impressive form, Salah’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, leading to speculation about his future at Anfield. The 32-year-old has expressed a desire to remain at Liverpool, but negotiations for a new deal have stalled in recent months.

"Hopefully it's not the last one," Salah said when asked about his future at the club.

Liverpool Faces Tough Decision Over Salah's Future

The former Roma man has been free to talk to clubs outside of England since January 1st, and while he has publicly stated his preference to stay at Liverpool, he has also expressed his frustration at the lack of progress in contract talks. Earlier this month, Salah admitted that he was "far away" from agreeing a new deal.

Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has been involved in negotiations with Liverpool, but the two parties have been unable to come to an agreement on a new contract. The Egyptian's wage demands are believed to be the main sticking point, with Salah seeking a significant pay rise.

Liverpool are reluctant to meet Salah's demands, as they believe it would set a dangerous precedent for future contract negotiations. The club are also wary of tying up a large portion of their wage bill to a player who will be 33 by the time the new contract expires.

With Salah's contract set to expire in the summer, Liverpool face a difficult decision. If they are unable to agree a new deal with the Egyptian, they will have to decide whether to sell him in the summer or risk losing him for nothing next year.
