Important news from Miami. Inter Miami confirmed Gerardo Martino as the team's new coach for the rest of the season. The Argentinean arrives after a less than memorable stint with the Mexican National Team and now, against all odds, he will coach Lionel Messi.

Inter Miami on Wednesday named Argentine coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino as its head coach for MLS 2023, where he will coincide with Mexican Rodolfo Pizarro and later will have under his orders Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, with whom he will be reunited after his time with FC Barcelona. "The Club has named Gerardo Martino as technical director. The MLS Cup and MLS Coach of the Year award-winning coach, with experience with the Argentina and Mexico national teams, FC Barcelona and more, joins the Club while awaiting his employment paperwork."

Martino, one of the most respected coaches in the Americas, arrives in Miami as an MLS Cup winner, two-time FIFA World Cup coach, three-time Copa America finalist and CONCACAF Gold Cup winner. In the last decade, he has coached FC Barcelona and Atlanta United.

How much will Gerardo Martino earn with Inter Miami?

The 60-year-old Argentine will assume coaching responsibilities upon receiving his employment papers. There, after earning almost $3 million a year with the Mexican National Team, it is expected that what he will earn with David Beckham will be higher and exceed the $5 million a year barrier.
