It has been two years since Lionel Messi departed from Barcelona under very unfortunate and controversial circumstances. There is a long discussion, still ongoing, about Barcelona's finances and that being the main reason behind Messi leaving even after Laporta's campaign slogan was the argentinian superstar.

Now, FC Barcelona have held their first meeting to discuss the budget for this year and the earnings for both this year and the next. The numbers, however surprising, are positive and very encouraging for the Catalan club. This, of course, results from the economic aids activated by their president prior to the start of the season.

Lewandowski's arrival made a huge impact on the FC Barcelona brand and the club's economics are now beginning to resurface after a few conflictive years. Now, that might not be necessary.

Joan Laporta has stated in more than one occasion that he ‘owes Messi a comeback to Barcelona’ and that his wish is that Argentina's number ‘10’ retires in Catalunya. Therefore, the path taken by FC Barcelona, seems to be correct as they have a net benefit of 98 million euros for this year and has billed 1.017 billion euros for the year 2021/2022. These news excite Messi and his fans who are now dreaming of an otherwise impossible comeback.
