Saudi football has made a big impact on the football industry. After the historical signing of Cristiano Ronaldo with Al Nassr, some of the biggest stars of the last few years have arrived the Saudi Pro League. Saudi league now enjoys the presence of football legends like Cristiano, Neymar, Kante, Benzema, and many more.

Some football fans across the world have criticised some of the stars that left the European's football elite “for the Saudi money”. Millionaire contracts offered by the Saudi league teams have been leaked and football fans have seen this as the main motivation for players like Neymar and Cristiano to join this league.

Some players have talked about their moves to the Saudi league, letting football fans theorize on the money being the main reason for these recent moves. However, a former Premier League star has stated that his move to Saudi was not motivated by the money.

“Money has never been a motivation”

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has talked about his move to Al Ettifaq. “People will see this club come with loads of money and he's just gone, ‘Yeah, I’m going'. When in reality that just wasn't the case at all. People can believe me or not, but in my life and my career, money has never been a motivation. Ever”, Henderson said.
