Thierry Henry has praised Arsenal transfer target Federico Valverde and how he has transformed his game. If it wasn’t for Karim Benzema collecting his first Ballon d’Or, a player like Valverde might have gotten more of a spotlight for his performances. This was recognised by Arsenal legend Henry who pointed out that Valverde is bringing more than energy this season.

On Wednesday night, Carlo Ancelotti’s side topped Group F in the Champions League when they thrashed Scottish Premiership champions Celtic 5-1. Valverde assisted and was on the scoresheet on the night, to make it eight goals and four assists in all competitions for the  24-year-old this term. Thierry Henry likes what he sees from the midfielder and praises his humility too.

While Messi said that Benzema deserved the Ballon d'Or, what Cristiano did

“This is a guy who is humble, but he is bringing more than energy. He scored his first goal in two years against Celta Vigo. Now, he is on six goals in the league. Two in the Champions League. Two assists in the Champions League. And two assists in the league,” said the French legend to illustrate Valverde's improvement.

Henry's old side are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and hoping to become champions of England again. If they succeed, some big names may be interested in the Emirates again, with Valverde a player very much on their transfer radar. Arsenal have been watching the Uruguay international and will try to acquire his talents.

Valverde to Arsenal?

It has been a long time since Arsenal were able to tempt Europe’s superstar players, but given their recent rise, then all of that might just change. Whether Valverde would want to swap Madrid for London is another question altogether. If he keeps this form up, Los Merengues will have no desire to lose him.
