The Barça legend that admires CR7 but admits Messi is better, why the argentine is the best

Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of the most important figures in soccer. He's played for the most important teams in Europe including Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United and Sporting. His career has been filled with broken records and great matches that will forever be highlights. 

His rivals have had some enormous respect for the Portuguese legend and they often speak highly of him as they've faced him and often been surpassed by the striker. Many of his rivals have had trouble with him on the pitch but afterwards, he's one of those players that make rivals go after him and ask for his shirt at the end of the game.

Some of his greatest rivals were in FC Barcelona and faced him either in La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey or other competitions and friendlies where ‘El Clásico’ was played. One of these rivals was Dani Alves. The brazilian FC Barcelona legend spoke in an interview to the official Pumas Youtube Channel where he declared that he felt the pressure when he was a player in the Catalan club. 

Alves stated: ‘Particularly I have always loved Cristiano. Now that we’re no longer in that Barça vs Madrid, because it always seems you can't talk, now that I'm not there, I can talk'. He also talked about the times he faced him and stated that he's always had respect for the Protuguese. Ronaldo and Messi have been the center of one of the longest debates in the history of soccer. This debate may come to an end with the upcoming World Cup for which the Argentine is the favorite.

Messi is better on and off the pitch

Ronaldo has been way more controversial on and off the pitch than Messi ever has and that has damaged the Portuguese striker's image. He's been involved in aggressions to fans, referees and staff members whilst Messi has not. Beyond that, the argentine is at a better moment than the Portuguese and even Dani Alves recognized that he's a gifted soccer player that has a different level than everyone else.
