Paris Saint-Germain have found their new alternative up front.

Hugo Ekitike, 20 year-old striker, is the newest PSG player. The Parisian team advanced negotiations in the last days and closed the signing of one of the greatest promises of French soccer. Although the formula has not been as expected. Ekitike repeats the path that once Mbappé took: loan with option to buy. The price of the operation in 2023 will be 35 million euros including bonuses. The reigning Ligue 1 champions would initially pay €28.5 million and €6.5 million including several easy bonuses.

In January, Ekitike came very close to signing for Newcastle, as Reims accepted an offer from the Magpies of €35 million plus five in bonuses that the player eventually turned down. From the start, the player told his agents that his only desire was to play for PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain announced on Saturday the arrival of the young French striker, who will be part of their squad for the next season on loan from Reims with an option to buy. Ekitiké, who turned 20 in June, played last season at Stade de Reims, the club where he was formed, scoring 11 goals in 27 games.

Another young French promise

The attacker, who started playing soccer at the age of five with the Cormontreuil team before moving to the training center of Reims, the city where he was born, was selected for the France U-21 team. He made his professional debut in October 2020 and in January 2021 was loaned for six months to Dutch team Vejle BK.

The announcement of Ekitiké's arrival comes at a time when PSG management is preparing the possible loan of five or six players to adjust the squad. Among those could be those who have been excluded from the club's tour of Japan, a country to which 25 of its players traveled today.
