Kylian Mbappé played his first match of the international break yesterday against Austria. This was a successful match to the PSG striker that scored one goal and missed another. ‘Donatello’ spoke after the game and had some critically-toned thoughts about his role in France and in PSG.

Mbappé plays as a striker for PSG. Galtier often puts him in front of Messi and Neymar to make the best out of his technical skills for striking the ball and his speed to attach the spaces in between defenders or correctly approach a counter attack.

But even though he does play as a striker in PSG, he stated that Galtier is making him play in a position that is not as comfortable as he wants. He states that Galtier makes him play as a pivot and go back to retrieve the ball more often than he should, thus he doesn't get as much liberty to move as he does in France.

This is why the french international spoke with the media and referred to his match against Austria. He stated ‘I play different with France, they ask me different things here than they do at PSG’. He also pointed out that in France there's a striker that clears the way for him and leaves him more space to move and attack.

Mbappé's statistics with France and PSG

Kylian Mbappé is one of the most prominent strikers in this generation. He's got more goals than Messi or Ronaldo at 23 and he's even won a World Cup with France. Statistically, he's better in PSG. He's got an average of 0,9 goals per game in all his matches while his numbers with France is 0,5 goals per game. Strictly from statistics, his claim is wrong, but his statement might not be about soccer but about affinity.
