The Reds announced on Friday that the Brazilian midfielder had suffered a thigh injury and would require surgery, ruling him out for the foreseeable future. Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo is set to miss three or four months of football due to injury, and the Reds are looking at Douglas Luiz as a potential replacement, according to reports. 

The Brazilian playmaker has been sidelined with a thigh injury his not expected to return to action until next year. He just went through a successful surgery on Saturday. With Melo out for an extended period of time, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is reportedly considering a move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has impressed for Villa this season, making 8 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals. Talking about Melo hadn't adapted yet to the Premier League since joining Juventus in the summer. It was also said that he was just preparing physically to finally earn a spot on the starting eleven.

The Red just brought him on loan to cover possible absences from their midfielders like Naby Keita. The Guinea man has been injured for the whole season and it was supposed to be Arthur's opportunity to shine. But he couldn't reach the expectations and was yet to debut in the Premier League, now he will miss the World Cup and will be ready to play until next February.
