Lionel Messi is not only shining in MLS but also with Argentina and he has proven it game after game. The Rosario native became a legend nine months ago when he lifted the World Cup in Qatar 2022, marking Argentina's third World Cup title and securing his place in the history books.

After closing a chapter in Europe, Lionel moved to the United States, where, in just over two months since his arrival, he has become Inter Miami's top referent. Now, as a key piece of the Argentine national team, he traveled to Buenos Aires to kick off the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers.

A tough match against Ecuador in the first round of the qualifiers took place last night in the Argentine capital. The current world champions secured theirs first 3 points with a last-minute free-kick goal by ‘Lio’.

The match left a positive impression on the fans, including players like Messi himself. The 36-year-old forward praised the work of his teammates and even stated that Argentina has the best central defender in the world.
