Real Madrid held its first training session this Sunday with its mind set on the Spanish Super Cup, which opens on Wednesday against Atlético de Madrid and to which Frenchman Ferland Mendy will travel. The defender has overcome his muscular problems and completed the full session this Sunday at the Real Madrid Sports City in Valdebebas, in which the headlines from Saturday's victory against Arandina (1-3) in the Copa del Rey led to perform recovery exercises.
The rest of the squad completed a "demanding day of work in the gym and on the pitch with pressure exercises, recovery, driving and games on small fields", according to the club's website.
A training session that ended with a series of shots on goal and in which, in addition to the three long-term injuries due to torn anterior cruciate ligaments in their left knees, the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, the Brazilian Éder Militao and the Austrian David Alaba, The Spanish Lucas Vázquez did not participate.
The right back was injured in training on Friday, suffering an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his right thigh that will keep him off the field for three weeks. Barring new setbacks, these will be the four absences for Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the Super Cup that has been held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) since Wednesday.
Real Madrid will train on Monday morning before heading, after lunch, to the Arab country where on Tuesday they will carry out the last preparatory training session, in the afternoon session, ahead of the Semifinal derby against Atlético de Madrid.
