Transfer rumors continue in MLS and everything seems to indicate that Yeferson Soteldo has one foot out of Toronto FC, as according to Mexican media his transfer to Tigres is hours away from being confirmed.
More news about Yeferson Soteldo:
Carlos Salcedo is not considered by Tigres and Yeferson Soteldo does not want to sign.
The Venezuelan winger is about to go to play in Liga MX through an exchange in which the Mexican club will send central defender Carlos Salcedo to Toronto FC.
According to the digital portal Mediotiempo, there was something that was holding up the negotiations between Tigres and Soteldo, but that aspect has been resolved and the transfer is ready to take place.
It seems that what was missing was that the salary negotiation between the team led by Miguel Herrera and the Venezuelan player reached good terms, a situation that has now been resolved, according to U.S. media.
Sources close to the negotiation confirmed that the player will join the Nuevo León team as soon as the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers are over, in which the player was called up to appear with the Venezuelan national soccer team.
Although the contract and its conditions have not been made public, it is known that it will last for three years and that the player's salary will be 1.6 million dollars.
The 24-year-old player was no longer scheduled for Toronto FC's preseason in California, United States, where the Canadian team will play a preseason-friendly match with the LA Galaxy, which is why the North American media believe that his transfer is just hours away from being announced.
Another detail that has not been widely publicized is the fact that the contract that Soteldo signed with Tigres includes a clause for indiscipline, which is an issue that the player has dealt with throughout his career.
If his arrival is confirmed, Soteldo would join the list of reinforcements that have arrived at Tigres for the 2022 Liga MX, including Jesús Angulo, Sebastián Córdova, and Igor Lichnovsky.
The latter player has even been mentioned by Miguel Herrera as his new reinforcement and, before the match against Pumas UNAM, he suggested that he would be the one to stay with the team in place of Carlos Salcedo.
More news about Carlos Salcedo:
Carlos Salcedo transfer confirmed? The player says goodbye before Tigres vs Puebla.
As had already been reported in previous weeks, the exchange between Tigres and Toronto FC was that while Yeferson Soteldo would go to the Liga MX team, Carlos Salcedo would go to the MLS team and, for that reason, Miguel Herrera did not include him in the list of players who faced and won against Pumas UNAM.
In fact, during the press conference before the match against the Universitarios, Tigres' coach Miguel Herrera suggested that he was no longer considering Carlos Salcedo.
It was even at that same press conference when he said that "one center back is leaving and another is coming", thus unofficially confirming that Salcedo was already a player he could no longer use.
Salcedo, 28, signed a three-year contract with the Canadians with an option for one more year and will be the club's Franchise Player along with Álex Pozuelo and Lorenzo Insigne, who will arrive in the summer to play in Major League Soccer.
