Sponsors are an important part of the soccer world as they provide the necessary support for teams to develop. But sometimes they are not to the liking of the club's supporters.

And United fans let their team know that the new sponsor is not exactly the one they would have wanted, through a witty meme.

The meme was uploaded just 18 hours ago and by now it has already gone viral not only on the platform to the extent that it has 36 comments, and has been shared on various platforms, so it has even been seen on Facebook and Twitter. 

The meme seeks to demonstrate that the club's new sponsor, XDC Network, is not to the liking of the club's fans since apparently, at least in the Reddit community, they are considered a scam. 

In fact, this is one of the terms that have been used the most by users of this platform to point out that this type of currency does not generate trust. 

Even the fact that the eagle in the center of the team's logo wears a trilby-type hat is a clear criticism that this sponsor is not trustworthy, according to users' comments. 

Some even pointed out that this new sponsor is at the level of Multi-Level Marketing, or MLM for its acronym, which shows the level of distrust of the club's followers towards XDC Network.

Who is the new DC United sponsor that has generated so much rejection from the club's followers?

Xinfin is the organization behind the XDC cryptocurrency and the XDC Network. The company defines itself as follows:

"XinFin Foundation is a non-profit organization that engages with different international governments in order to reduce the existing gap in global infrastructure. According to XinFin, the lack of government-sponsored funding hinders the possibility of realizing many infrastructure projects around the world."

The team announced its new sponsor that will have its branding on the front of the jersey, with which XDC Network, a crypto asset network created by Xinfin, will seek to make itself known to a wider audience.

According to journalist Pablo Maurer, the deal is for $6 million a year for three years, up from the $4 million Leidos was paying United.

However, this sponsorship has generated discomfort among the club's followers, and for this reason, they demonstrated their rejection through a meme.
