According to reports, he first started conversations over a year ago, when Joan Laporta became president of Barcelona, but things didn’t transcend. During this time, he has kept preparing, as he knows the next step in his career is to become a coach.

His arrival at Barcelona was placed on hold as the Blaugranas were trying to keep Lionel Messi on the team, as he was asking for $70 million per year to stay. Now that he’s gone and that Barcelona has found economic stability, Márquez could arrive at last. According to reports, although with a modest salary, as the academy coaches earn from $1,000 up to $3,000 monthly.
