A lot has been said about the players that are usually called to Mexico National Team and the lack of opportunities that Gerardo “Tata” Martino give to young promising players, like Marcelo Flores, who soon will debut with Arsenal and still he isn’t considered to be part of El Tri senior squad and instead gives room to players like Diego Lainez, who isn’t a regular with his team.

Marcelo Flores will be playing against Costa Rica, with the U-20 squad
Marcelo Flores is decided to stay with El Tri as he declined the option of playing for Canada and is already part of the U-20 camp, but for some other players, the fact that there’s no open doors for them in Mexico National Team but have the chance of wearing the colors of a different National Team that embraces youngsters, is a deal-breaker.
That seems to be the case of Richard Ledezma, who has both Mexican and American nationalities, and although he hasn’t closed the door to play for El Tri, he’s been part of US Soccer Academy teams and already debuted in a friendly match with the senior team, which means El Tri has little possibilities of having him.

Richy Ledezma joined Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in 2019 out of Real Salt Lake academy teams. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is $1 million, but given his skills and abilities, PSV has set a release clause of $40 million for him.
