Mexico National Team is looking to earn their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup this Sunday, something they will manage to do if they beat Honduras on their visit to Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano, a thing that seems obtainable given that La H has lost five home games.
Mexico could be seeded in Qatar 2022, what does it need?
And given the irregular performances that El Tri has had in the last year, the Aztec squad needs to prove once and for all that they have what it takes to have a worthy participation in the international tournament set to be played in November.
Surprisingly, they could receive help from the Honduran squad, as their own manager said that they won’t be giving a fight to the Aztec squad, given that they’re already eliminated from the CONCACAF Qualifiers.
Hernán “Bolillo” Gómez, Honduras coach, said that they know they have to start preparing for the next World Cup, as Mexico, Canada and the United States won’t participate in the Qualifiers given that they will host the World Cup.
That’s why he decided to not start the usual players on his lineup and instead give the opportunity to the younger players to prove why he should consider them for the next Qualifiers cycle, as Honduras is in need of a generational change to start competing again in CONCACAF.
This will be the second straight World Cup that Honduras misses, as the last time that they played on a World Cup was in Brazil 2014, where they shared group with France, Switzerland, and Ecuador. La H lost the three games they played.
