Gerardo Martino's list of players for the friendly matches prior to Qatar 2022 Wold Cup have been a controversy filled topic. El Tri’s squad list has many names that both the Mexican press and fans are not even near settled with. Players like Héctor Herrera or Raúl Jiménez are the ones causing anger towards the coach.

Many of the members of the squad appointed by ‘Tata’ Martino are injured and will, for sure, leave Mexico's training and preparation matches to work on their physical stability in regards to the official call for Qatar. Raúl Jiménez has a knee injury and will return to England to recover with Wolverhampton.

Not only has El Tri sunk, Martino's new contempt for Mexico and its fans

Rogelio Funes Mori has an injury that he's been dealing with for two weeks now and ‘might be able’ to play. His teammate Luis Romo is more of the same and Jorge Sánchez and Héctor Herrera will both abandon the team for similar reasons.

Martino's decision making has been strongly questioned in Mexico and the fact that he's carrying several injured players with the national team instead of considering others that are at a high level and healthy has made fans absolutely rage against the coach.

Martino and his seemingly ‘favorites’

Henry Martín and Santiago Giménez are the two names that the fans want the most with the national team. However, it seems that ‘Tata’ is set to try out and keep some players like Raúl Jiménez, which he's stated is the preferred striker, and Rogelio Funes Mori. This last one has made most of Martino's lists without important numbers.
