Although Mexico National Team was able to beat 2-1 Jamaica in their visit to Kingston, rumors suggest that Mexican Football Federation is still planning on ending Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s stint with El Tri after the FIFA match window is over.

Currently, the only way he can maintain his position as El Tri coach is winning the two remainder games of the match window against Costa Rica and Panama in Estadio Azteca, which would mean to keep Mexico National Team fighting for the first place of CONCACAF.
Miguel Herrera is ready to go as soon as Martino is out of the door, as he hasn’t hidden his wish of coaching Mexico National Team again, but in order to do it he’s requesting FMF to give him a group of bodyguards that take care of him throughout his stint.

Miguel Herrera already had a stint as Mexico National Team coach between 2013 and 2015, in which he was champion of CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2015, days before he was fired after getting involved in a fight on an airport with a TV commentator. He also was eliminated in round of 16 in 2014 FIFA World Cup and couldn’t reach quarterfinals in Copa América.
