Nicolás Larcamón arrived in Club Puebla for Clausura 2021 and took Liga MX by surprise. On his first tournament coaching Los Enfranjados, they reached the semifinals for the first time in over a decade and then for Apertura 2021 they reached Liguilla again, losing against Club León in quarterfinals.
Will Hirving Lozano join Carlo Ancelotti in Real Madrid over the summer?
What he’s done is more impressive considering that currently Club Puebla has the roster with the lowest market value in Liga MX, just $22.7 million -Monterrey roster is worth almost 4 times what Puebla does-, but that hasn’t stopped them to be one of the most regular teams in Liga MX.
After the disappointing performances of Mexico National Team in the CONCACAF Qualifiers, Larcamón was asked if he’d be up to replacing Gerardo “Tata” Martino if the opportunity arrived, to which he answered that it would be a dream to coach El Tri, but not just now.
The 37-year-old Argentinian coach feels that his time hasn’t come just yet, as he’s just starting his career as soccer manager -he debuted in 2016 with Venezuelan side Deportivo Anzotaégui-. Club Puebla is the biggest challenge in his career so far, as Liga MX is one of the most competitive leagues in America. He also said that he respects the process he’s started with Los Camoteros, which is why he won’t leave the club.
