Hirving “Chucky” Lozano has been a starter in only 17 games of the current season for Napoli in Serie A, and given that Luciano Spalletti doesn’t trust the Mexican right-winger, the Azzurri are set to sell him prior the 2022-23 season.
The message that Hirving Lozano sent to the owner of Napoli
The stint of the Mexico international with Napoli has been full of ups and downs, since the coach that requested his arrival in the 2019-20 season was Carlo Ancelotti, who left Napoli’s dugout just a few months after Lozano joined him.
In the season and a half that Gennaro Gattuso coached the Azzurri, Lozano had a hard time returning to the starting XI, although he achieved it in the last months of Gattuso’s stint. But when Napoli decided to part ways with him and hire Spalletti to replace him, Lozano saw his efforts discarded once again.
According to reports, Napoli already has Lozano’s replacement, 21-year-old Georgian right-winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. And given the economic problems that the Azzurri are facing, selling Lozano is the best option for them.
Although “Chucky” Lozano has been linked to several teams in and out of Italy, including La Liga titans FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, in recent days it’s been Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers who have showed more interest.
Even if Hirving Lozano has said in the past that the only way that he’s leaving Napoli is to a bigger club, something that Wolves clearly isn’t, there’s a few advantages for him to chose to play in Molineux Stadium next season.
For starters, the fact that he’ll have the chance of playing with Raúl Jiménez, something that will benefit both of them just months prior the 2022 World Cup. He’ll also have more playing time in a more competitive league, which will improve his shape and open the door to arrive to a biggest club in the future.
According to reports from Napoli Today, a specialized outlet in Napoli’s news, Wolves are offering him a $6 million per season salary, which would not only mean an increase of almost $1 million, but also would be the highest salary he’s received in his career.
