Lozano knows that El Tri needs another striker besides Raúl Jiménez.

With the upcoming CONCACAF Qualifiers match window around the corner and the lack of a striker that can complement what Raúl Jiménez does on the pitch, people are starting to worry about the possible outcome of El Tri against USMNT.

Luka Romero won’t play for Mexico National Team, but this striker does wants to represent El Tri

It's worth remembering that the Aztec squad has lost three straight games against the Bars and Stripes, including two finals and the game that made El Tri lose the first place of CONCACAF, as they lost dos a cero on their visit to Cincinnati last November.

Not only El Tri followers and sports journalists have questions about how El Tri will manage to finally beat USMNT, given the lack of strikers that are on a scoring streak, as even some players are wondering who is going to take the place behind Raúl Jiménez.

That’s the case of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, who knows that he needs a companion near the box to be able to generate dangerous plays, a connection that he hasn’t found with Rogelio Funes Mori or Henry Martín, Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s favorite players.

Which player does Lozano wants in El Tri?

“Chucky” Lozano knows of the skills and abilities that Diego Abreu has, as they’ve coincided in El Tri’s training facilities when both the senior squad and the U-20 team had camps last year, which is why he wants to have him as his new partner in the Aztec squad.

Martino also knows of the talent that Abreu has, given that he called him last year to train with El Tri’s senior squad, although he called him as a sparring player and didn’t consider him back then to be part of the final roster for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, but he might consider giving him a chance now, especially since he won’t call Funes Mori.

According to the report of Jóvenes Futbolistas MX, “Chucky” Lozano is one of Abreu’s referents, given his versatility and the vision he has of the pitch. Abreu hasn’t closed the door to playing with Mexico National Team, although he can also play for Uruguay.

Does Abreu want to play for El Tri?

Currently, Abreu is recovering from an injury suffered last December, when he was playing with Uruguay U-20 squad. The son of Sebastián “Loco” Abreu has made most of his process with El Tri academy squads and is willing to play for El Tri if he gets enough playing time, as he knows the conditions offered by the Aztec squad are better for his future.
