The UANL Tigres are going from strength to strength in the Apertura 2022 after defeating Querétaro's Gallos Blancos 2-1, but in the final stretch they suffered too much after two controversial red cards.
The game began as expected, with Gallos playing at the back looking for a counterattack and, in fact, the first attempt was made by the visitors with Ángel Sepúlveda's shot that went just over the goal. At the 19th minute, Raymundo Fulgencio broke down the left flank and put in a precise cross for Nicolás “Diente” López, who shot into the roof of the net to open the scoring at the ‘Volcán’.

A minute later, Jesús Angulo took his chance with a mid-range shot that went over the top of the goal; but at the 25th minute, Igor Lichnovsky awarded a penalty and, from the spot, Ariel Nahuelpán drilled the ball past Nahuel Guzmán to tie the game 1-1.
From then on, the home team found it difficult to generate chances, the most dangerous of which was a deflected shot by Sebastián Córdova that went wide. After several attempts, the ‘Felinos’ found the key with a good team play that Jordy Caicedo headed into the net despite the defender's sweep. However, at minute 71, the Ecuadorian was sent off after a hard tackle and a VAR review, while Juan Pablo Vigón was also sent off at minute 84.
Despite this, the Gallos were not as insistent on the rival goal and also had a player sent off, as David Cabrera was shown the red card at 93rd minute. After this result, Tigres are leaders with 15 points and Querétaro is in last place with just two points and without a win in the championship.
