It’s clear that things are not working in Chivas with Amaury Vergara as their owner and Marcelo Michel Leaño as their coach, not only because they haven’t been able to contend for a title since they took over, but because they have won just five out of the past 19 games they’ve played.
And although the recent results have somehow makeup for the lack of planification and the absence of a solid project from the Mexican coach that can make El Rebaño return to the spotlight in Liga MX, there’s two incidents that have evidenced that Chivas needs to urgently change things.
The first event was the scoreless draw against Club América last week, as El Rebaño couldn’t beat the worst version of Las Águilas in years, not even in a game at home, where they ended the match with one more player that América given the red card showed to Jonathan dos Santos.
The second event that evidences the poor management of Chivas is the fact that Gerardo “Tata” Martino only called one player out of a full squad of Mexican players, Alexis Vega, for the upcoming FIFA match window. That’s why one of their best players is considering El REbaño at the end of the season.
It’s clear that Gerardo Martino doesn’t consider Chivas as the base of Mexico National Team, as with Marcelo Michel Leaño as coach El Rebaño doesn’t play good soccer, that’s why Jesús “Canelo” Angulo wants to leave over the summer.
He knows that he has the level needed to be part of Gerardo Martino’s squad, but he also knows that as long as he stays in El Rebaño, his possibilities of wearing El Tri colors in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup are almost inexistent.
According to the report of W Deportes, Angulo already requested to be transferred once the summer transfer window opens, as he wants to be considered by Martino, given that he was one of the players that stood out the most in the Olympics and one of the most consistent players of El Rebaño.
The 25-year-old offensive midfielder joined Chivas in 2020 out of Necaxa for a $8 million transfer. He’s under contract with El Rebaño until December 2023, although if any team wanted to acquire him, they will have to pay at least $3.3 million, his current market value.
