Gerardo “Tata” Martino has guaranteed his permanence as Mexico National Team coach at least until the next FIFA match window, although he’s been questioned due to the apparent lack of stability and irregularity with which El Tri plays.

After his success with the Mexico National Team U-23, where they managed to win the bronze medal in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Jaime “Jimmy” Lozano decided to resign and leave the FMF structure, although no one understood why.
But reports suggest that his resignation as U-23 coach was taken in order to join “Tata” Martino’s coaching staff as an assistant, given that Lozano wanted to learn how “Tata” works, something that didn’t sit well with the Argentinian coach, as he felt like Lozano was threatening his job.
Gerardo Martino knows that “Jimmy” Lozano is a talented coach, something he already proved with the academy teams, and felt like he was able to replace him if thing didn’t go his way -as it’s happening right now- and would jeopardize his renewal, as he plans to stay with El Tri at least until the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
