Club América is having their worst start in Liga MX since the short tournaments were established in 1996, and their worst tournament since the 1957-58 Liga MX season, as they have only earned five points after seven rounds.

The current crisis in which they are is far more noticeable as they were Liga MX leaders last season, when they won 10 games and lost only two, numbers that seem difficult to achieve for the current roster, although both the players and coach were the same.
That’s why Santiago Solari’s future as Las Águilas coach is hanging by a thread, although he managed to stay at least one week on Club América’s bench after finally keeping a clean sheet and earning a point on their visit to Pumas.
However, in Club América they’re already looking for a plan B in case Las Águilas don’t earn points from their matches against Querétaro and Monterrey, and Guillermo Ochoa, one of the leaders in the dressing room, has made sure to pressure them into hiring a coach that knows how to handle a team with the players and history that América has.
Although he coached Real Madrid for a season, Ochoa doesn’t think that Santiago Solari has the will to be a leader in the locker room, which is why he lost the support of some of the players in the roster, as it became evident with their recent performances.
That’s why Ochoa has requested to have Miguel Herrera back again in Las Águilas dugout for a third stint, as he knows that Herrera is a true leader and has the personality to manage a team in which egos have a protagonist role.
Herrera is under contract with Tigres until the end of the 2022-23 Liga MX Season, as he joined Los Felinos on May last year on a two-year contract worth $3 million, a figure that Club América will have to surpass if they want to convince the Mexican coach to return to América.
Ochoa is under contract with Club América until the end of 2022, although he can start looking for a club over the summer, as he could join them as a free agent once his contract with Las Águilas is done. The possibility is open, as Ochoa wants to have a coach that knows how to be in charge.
