Al Nassr’s season came to an end a couple of days ago when they lost 5-4 on penalties in the King’s Cup Final against Al Hilal. Cristiano Ronaldo’s team was not satisfied with this season as their rivals Al Hilal won all the domestic trophies, and on top of that, they went undefeated. Ronaldo was very sad about the loss since he had a great season individually. Al Nassr plans to sign new players in this upcoming summer transfer window, and one of the positions they want to improve in is the goalkeeper position. Rumors from Saudi Arabia are starting to grow that Al Nassr will potentially look to sign Mexican legend Guillermo Ochoa. The Mexican keeper will soon be a free agent after his contract with U.S. Salerntina expires on June 30th. It would be a cheap deal for Al Nassr to get done, and the keeper has experience at the highest level.
Ochoa has faced Cristiano Ronaldo on two occasions. The Mexican keeper was in Granada while Ronaldo was in Real Madrid, and the Portuguese striker won as they defeated Ochoa’s team 5-0. In 2017, Mexico played against Portugal in the FIFA Confederations Cup, where the score was 2-2. The Mexican keeper has been playing for many years in Europe, but now, Saudi Arabia could be their destination.
Ochoa has played for AC Ajaccio, Malaga CF, Granada CF, Standard Liege, and Salernitana. He has also played for his boyhood club, Club America, for many years. Now, with no club, the keeper could lean towards playing for Al Nassr next season for a temporary period of time as a club from the MLS is showing interest in him.
Ochoa is now being linked with a move to the MLS, and the new expansion team, San Diego FC, is interested in him. Ochoa is in advanced talks with the club to join, but he will have to play for them until the start of next year. The remaining six months of the year would be a great opportunity for him to play with Al Nassr until he makes the move to the MLS.
