Club América is still looking for a coach to replace Santiago Solari, who was sacked a few weeks ago given the poor results he got on the eight games he coached Las Águilas, as he left the Azulcremas at the bottom of the table with only six points.
The requests of Ricardo Ferretti to arrive in Club América
For now, they promoted Fernando “Tano” Ortíz to the first team, as he was coaching the U-20 squad before Las Águilas decided to part ways with the Argentine coach. So far, Ortíz has coached three games, winning one of them, losing another one and saving a draw on the last one.
It was until last weekend’s match that Club América showed a different face from the way they used to play with Solari, as the players looked more compenetrated and were able to impose their rhythm instead of waiting for Toluca to establish their own system.
The 3-0 victory gave Emilio Azcárraga and Santiago Baños more time to look for a new coach, as they feel like América could finish the season with “Tano” Ortíz on the dugout, especially since Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who is their first option to arrive in El Nido, ends his contract with FC Juárez over the summer.
When he was asked about his future during the press conference after the game against Xolos de Tijuana, “Tuca” Ferretti said that he’s not thinking about the future and that for the moment his mind is set in helping Bravos finish the season as strong as they can.
Ferretti didn’t talk about extending his contract with Juárez, opening the possibility for his arrival to another Liga MX club, although he said that he knows that in order to have a different job, he has to do the best he can with his current team, given that the results are the ones that speak for the coach.
According to reports, Ricardo Ferretti could consider arriving in a team like Club América not only for the vast roster they have, but also because he could get a salary increase to a similar figure he was receiving when he was coaching Chivas.
For now, Ferretti is earning $2 million per season with the border team, half from what he earned with Tigres, where he coached for 10 years. But if he was to arrive in El Nido, he could make at least $3 million per year, as that’s what Las Águilas were paying Santiago Solari.
