With a double from Dinneno, the Auriazules exacted revenge for their 2005 elimination.

In a CONCACAF Champions League match and without Alfredo Talavera, the Universitarios took revenge on the Monstruo and are going for Club America, after winning the Pumas UNAM vs Saprissa match.

The 4-1 result was decided by a brace from Juan Ignacio Dinneno, a goal from Arturo Ortiz, and one from José Rogério, while Ryan Bolaños scored for the Monstruo.

How was Pumas UNAM's revenge against Saprissa in the CONCACAF Champions League?

The match was just like the previous one: with a lot of intensity and full of back and forth and with several shots on goal by both clubs, although Pumas UNAM had 8, compared to 5 by the Costa Ricans.

The first goal of the match came in the 12th minute when Leo Lopez sent a corner into the opponent's area, which was headed accurately by Arturo Ortiz, who opened the score 1-0.

But Saprissa didn't let the early goal get the better of them, and by the end of the second half, the Monster had already made at least two dangerous plays in the Pumas UNAM area.

In the second half, Ryan Bolaños scored the goal for Saprissa, after a corner kick bounced out of control in the Universitarios' area, but the defense was unable to control the ball.

Bolaños took advantage of one of those rebounds and with a half-back shot beat Julio González to make the score 1-1.

Dinneno and his brace gave Pumas UNAM the lead over Saprissa

But in the 75th minute, Dinneno would tip the scales in the Universitarios' favor when he received a pass in the center of the opponent's box that he received masterfully with his chest, then controlled and took a half-volley that ended in a low shot to the far post, making the score 2-1.

Later, in the 82nd minute, Alan Mozo, who had a great game, sent a deep pass to the head of Dinneno, who with a precise header beat Aarón Cruz to make it 3-1.

And the last goal for Pumas UNAM would come in added time, at minute 90+4, when Mozo again sent a great pass into the area for José Rogério to finish off and seal the match.

Pumas UNAM now goes for Club América in the Derby of the Capital City

Pumas UNAM not only managed to crush Saprissa and advance to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League but also gave a taste of what could happen next Saturday when they face Club América in the Clásico Capitalino.

While the Universitarios will go into the match with a lot of confidence after the great game they played against Saprissa, the Aguilas will arrive after losing 1-3 to Pachuca.

If Pumas UNAM plays as well as they did against Saprissa, we could be looking at a repeat of what happened in the 2021 Apertura Liguilla, when the Universitarios eliminated the Aguilas from the competition.
