Liga MX 2022: Salvador Reyes Chávez scores the second fastest goal in tournament history

The Liga MX 2022 duels started with a bang and last night we saw Salvador Reyes Chávez score the second-fastest goal in the history of the tournament, in a duel in which Club America went away with a draw. 

Las Aguilas took the lead within seconds when Henry Martin played the ball to Jordan Silva, who set up Salvador Reyes for a long pass. 

The Puebla defense was very confused and did not know how to react, a moment that Club America's number 26 took advantage of and with a left-footed cross-shot beat the rival goalkeeper, 10 seconds into the match. 

With the goal, the Aguilas took the lead on the scoreboard, but a series of distractions prevented the Coapa club from leaving the match with the result in their favor, as Puebla managed to equalize. 

At the end of the first half of the match, Maximiliano Araújo took a long cross from the right into the area, where he brought the ball down and then struck a powerful left-footed shot to beat goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

Overall, it was a lousy game for Club America, as although they showed that they can take advantage of their opponents' lack of concentration, they also failed to show the attacking play that everyone thought they would. 

In addition, the match ended with the expulsion of the Aguilas' coach, Santiago Solari, who committed an action prohibited by the Mexican League 2022 regulations by entering the field of play during the match. 

The club's coach committed this action when he lost his temper when he saw referee Óscar Mejía show Roger Martínez the yellow card. 

The Aguilas' coach went onto the field to complain to the referee, but not only was he sent off, but it is being analyzed whether he could be suspended for six or eight games in the current Liga MX 2022.  

What has been the fastest goal in Liga MX history?

The fastest goal in the tournament was scored in the 1989-1990 season when Rafael Chávez scored at 9 seconds against Chivas with UAG.

And it wasn't until last night's match between Club America and Puebla that we experienced a similar moment again.

Who is Salvador Reyes Chávez, the scorer of the second fastest goal in Liga MX?

The 23-year-old current Club America defender played for Puebla until recently. 

It was in the Guardianes 2021 tournament when he established himself as a starter with semifinalist Puebla, being an undisputed starter with Nicolás Larcamón for what he showed on the field.  

Before playing with La Franja, the player was with Cimarrones de Sonora in the Expansion League and the lower divisions of the now-defunct Monarcas Morelia, which was renamed Mazatlán FC.  

Salvador Reyes has experience in youth national teams where he has been called upon different occasions, including microcycles with the national team that won its ticket to the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
