Atlas FC started the first leg of the semifinals against Tigres on the right foot, as they almost ensured their presence in their second straight final after winning 3-0 against Los Felinos on Wednesday night in Estadio Jalisco.
He was erased from Atlas FC, but now is a key player for them in Liguilla
The Rojiblancos managed to open the score just before the first half ended with a penalty kick by Julio Furch, who along Julián Quiñones have become one of the deadliest duos in Liga MX in the past year, as they were key on the title that Atlas won last season.
Luis Reyes increased the advantage for the locals after 60 minutes and it was Quiñones himself who sealed the 3-0 victory at the end of the game, scoring against the team that first brought him to Mexican soccer but where he could never establish.
Quiñones arrived at Atlas for the 2021-22 season on a one-year loan with option to buy, and thanks to his outstanding performances, the Rojinegros didn’t think it twice before exercising the buy clause, as he’s now under contract until 2026.
The good performances that both him and Julio Furch have had together, have linked them since the winter transfer window to several teams that are interested in improving their rosters, although it’s yet to be seen if they keep the same level of contributions away from each other.
According to reports from Reacción en Cadena, even if Atlas just signed him to a multi-year deal, they are willing to let him go if the right offer arrives at Estadio Jalisco, as they know they need to take advantage of the interest that he’s gathered recently.
Club América is one of the teams that is targeting the 25-year-old Colombian striker, as they need a forward given the lack of productivity that both Henry Martín and Federico Viñas had for Las Águilas during Clausura 2022.
When Julián Quiñones arrived at Atlas FC at the start of the season, his market value was set at $2.1 million given the few activity that he had with Tigres, but now that he’s established as one of the best strikers, it has increased up to $5.3 million.
