Chivas will have a golden opportunity this Saturday night to finally start leaving the crisis behind, as a victory against Club América not only will change the momentum of the team heading into the second part of Clausura 2022, but it will also mean their third straight game without a defeat.
Chivas won’t renew Alexis Vega but they already found his replacement
But if they don’t manage to beat Las Águilas in the Clásico Nacional, it will mean the end of Marcelo Michel Leaño’s stint as Chivas coach, given that Club América is the worst team of Clausura 2022, as they are the team that shoots the less out of the 18 clubs.
They also have won just one game in the current season -a 3-2 against Santos Laguna- and have tied three more games, resulting in just six points after nine rounds, which is why El Rebaño has to take advantage of the weaknesses that Las Águilas have showed during Clausura 2022.
A defeat will confirm the crisis of El Rebaño under Michel Leaño’s management, and Amaury Vergara might not have any other choice than firing him, especially knowing that the Azulcremas haven’t named a new coach yet.
According to reports, Amaury Vergara has already started conversations with the potential replacement of Marcelo Michel Leaño, former Chivas defender Ramón Morales, whose last coaching experience was in 2016, with Coras Tepic, from Liga de Expansión.
His arrival could be possible given that he is someone who understands what being part of Chivas means, something that Ricardo Peláez, sporting director of El Rebaño, suggested to Vergara, who knows that there hasn’t been a connection with the stands for a while.
Ramón Morales played with Chivas from 1999 to 2009, retiring two years later while playing for Estudiantes Tecos. Morales has been involved with Chivas one way or another, as he already coached the U-17 and U-20 squads, while also being assistant coach in 2015.
The Mexico former international won one Liga MX title with Chivas, in Apertura 2006, when El Rebaño beat Toluca by a 3-2 aggregate. He also helped the academy teams win their category tournaments, winning back-to-back titles with the U-17 squad in Apertura 2013 and Clausura 2014, and then he also won with the U-20 in Apertura 2014.
Marcelo Michel Leaño will bench one of Chivas best players and all for his ego
