Club América haven’t found the way of leaving both the bottom of the table and one of their worst crises in several years, as they have won just one game in Clausura 2022 and have earned just 7 points in the 10 games they’ve played so far.
Guillermo Ochoa won’t renew with Club América and his replacement could arrive from Chivas
Their problems not only have to do with the lack of positive results, but also the weak performances they have in almost every single position, something that Santiago Solari didn’t know how to handle and was sacked after eight rounds of the current season.
Las Águilas named Fernando “Tano” Ortíz as their interim coach while Emilio Azcárraga and Santiago Baños find the coach that will take over Las Águilas, but with only seven games left in the season, it looks difficult that they’ll found a coach that will take over the challenge.
When Azcárraga was asked if he already have decided for a coach, he answered that they are planning on finishing Clausura 2022 with “Tano” Ortíz on the bench, as they are fully confident that he’ll help them to leave the bad streak.
So far, of the two games that Club América has played with Fernando Ortíz as their coach. Las Águilas have lost one game, against Monterrey by a 2-1 score, and tied the other, the Clásico Nacional, where neither Chivas nor América were able to score.
Although reports suggest that inside the locker room there’s a different environment from the tense one that used to be with Solari, they know that they need to earn the three points when they receive Toluca, as a new defeat will start complicating things for Ortíz.
Azcárraga also said that “Tano” doesn’t have his place secured for the rest of Clausura 2022, because if he doesn’t manage to help breaking the bad streak, they will look for a new coach and he’ll have to return to the U-20, where he was initially coaching.
Multiple reports have linked Nicolás Larcamón with the Azulcremas, as the Club Puebla coached has impressed everyone since arriving in Liga MX, but when asked about the possibility of coaching América, the Argentine coach said that he hasn’t had conversations with them and that he’s happy with his job in Puebla, and that he intends to fulfill his contract with La Franja.
Other of the coaches that is on Club América’s radar is Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who currently is coaching FC Juárez, although he’s not having a good time with Bravos and even said that he already presented his resignation letter last season, opening the door for his potential arrival in Las Águilas.
