It’s no lie to say that Camilo Vargas is one of the best goalkeepers that has arrived in Mexican soccer in the past few years, showing why having a reliable goalkeeper is essential for any team that wants to be a serious contender for Liga MX title.
Club América wants Julián Quiñones from Atlas FC; is willing to offer three players in exchange
Vargas has become an essential player for Atlas FC, team that he arrived back in 2019 out of Colombian side Deportivo Cali after Los Rojinegros paid a $1.6 million transfer fee for his economic rights, especially in the last year, as his performances were key for Atlas to win first title in over 71 years.
But his level didn’t drop for Clausura 2022, where he kept showing that he has nothing else to prove in Liga MX, as he was named the MVP of Liga MX in 2021, not only by Liga MX themselves, but also by Transfermarkt, who currently have him valued at $2.7 million.
Although the Colombia international is under contract with Los Zorros until 2026, he recently signed a contract extension amidst a wave of rumors placing him in Club América, his renewal was part of a plan to give him a higher release clause that will leave a bigger income for Atlas.
According to reports from W Deportes, Cruz Azul is looking for a new goalkeeper to compete with Sebastián Jurado for the starting role, as José de Jesús Corona is looking to leave once the summer transfer window opens.
Diego Aguirre is looking to improve the squad and knowing that La Máquina can sign a Liga MX champion has made him start conversations to acquire the 33-year-old goalkeeper, although if they were to sign him, they will have to pay $5 million.
Pachuca vs Atlas FC will be his last game before leaving for Club América
