Club América and Santiago Solari have only one idea in mind: build the best squad they can for Clausura 2022 in order to become champions this season. And so far, that’s been translated on multiple signings in the past few hours.

According to reports, the Spanish center back wasn’t part of FC Koln’s squad on their 4-0 defeat against Bundesliga leader, Bayern Munich, as he was already on his way to Mexico, where Jorge Meré will sign a 3-year contract with Las Águilas.
The 24-year-old is said to be happy to join Liga MX team, where he’ll be an important part of Solari’s squad. Meré will share dressing room with fellow Spanish Álvaro Fidalgo, who joined América at the beginning of the 2021-22 Liga MX Season. Both players were born in Oviedo, in 1997.

Meré joined Bundesliga side back in 2017 out of Real Sporting Gijón on a transfer worth $8 million. During his 5-year stint with Koln, the center back played a total of 96 games, where he managed to score on two occasions and assisted just one time.
