Chivas attacker Alexis Vega scored the third goal of the match against Mazatlán in the rojiblancos’ debut in the Clausura 2022. Vega celebrated his free kick goal by sending a clear message to Chivas fans, showing that he is staying with the club.
During the celebration, the Chivas striker headed for the corner kick, kissed the badge, and repeatedly said: 'Here I'm staying' as he grabbed his jersey.
After the celebration, the rojiblancos fans echoed on social networks the pleasure generated by the message sent by the bronze medalist in Tokyo 2022.
Currently, Alexis Vega has one year left on his contract with Guadalajara, which is why the Chivas board have offered him a renewal with a considerable salary increase, however, the player has not reached an agreement with the management to ensure his continuity in the institution.
In recent days, Marcelo Michel Leaño acknowledged that the Chivas board of directors is making an important effort to renew the player, as he is convinced that he wants to remain with the club.
"Alexis is very focused, Alexis wants to stay at Guadalajara, he wants to make history, to be a champion here, to play in a World Cup. He has told me that, he shows it. I know that they are making an important effort for his renewal and I am sure that in the next few weeks an agreement will be reached. He has one year left on his contract and he is very focused on making history here, that is why we are working," said Leaño.
Mazatlán had a nightmare debut when they were beaten 3-0 by Chivas, but that didn't stop them from trolling Alexis Vega after his goal.
Mazatlán FC community manager and fans mocked the Alexis Vega celebration because the player through social networks ‘flirted’ with the other teams during the winter transfer window.
"Goal of the guy who winked at all the teams where his friends left," posted the Mazatlán FC team account.
Uriel Antuna was one of the players that left Chivas de Guadalajara to play for Cruz Azul. The right winger debuted on Saturday, January 8, with la Máquina, where the Celeste club won against Xolos de Tijuana.
The tweet received thousands of responses, including mockery and complaints from Sinaloa fans for the poor game played by the home team.
