Club América are still looking for a coach that can replace Santiago Solari, as with this weekend’s game, they’ve been without an official coach for four games, although they will have Fernando “Tano” Ortíz as the interim coach for the remainder of the season.

Will Ochoa renew its contract with América?

It’s worth remembering that with Solari, Las Águilas won just one game, tied three more and lost the other four that “El Indiecito” coached. For now, “Tano” Ortíz has a record of 1-1-1, waiting for the result of the game against Necaxa on Saturday night.

During the FIFA match window, Las Águilas held two friendly matches against Monterrey and Tigres, losing both of them, and even if the results weren’t the expected, it helped them to keep building chemistry between the roster and Ortíz for the last 6 games of the season.

It looks complicated that América will be part of Repechaje, as they need at least 10 points from the 18 left on dispute but having a solid base will help the coach that arrives for Apertura 2022, especially since that coach can be Juan Carlos Osorio, who is known for his rotation system.

Can Osorio arrive in América?

His name was one of the first to be linked to Las Águilas when Solari was sacked over a month ago, but given that he was coaching América de Cali, rumors rapidly faded away. But now that he parted ways with El Rojo, his arrival in Las Águilas seems more than probable.

Juan Carlos Osorio has a good relationship with Santiago Baños, Club América chairman, and even if at first he refused to return to Mexico after his failure with the Mexican national team, Baños could be the key to convince him to arrive in Las Águilas.

But his arrival has to be accepted by Emilio Azcárraga, Las Águilas owner, who has yet to take a decision regarding the continuity of Baños given his poor results since 2017, when he first joined the Azulcremas, as they’ve only won one title in the 5 years he’s been the chairman.

Guillermo Ochoa is ready to leave if Osorio arrives

One of the players that will leave Club América if Osorio becomes their next coach is Guillermo Ochoa, who knows him from his stint with El Tri. Ochoa was one of the main players that were against Osorio’s system, as he felt that the rotations didn’t help them have regularity.
