Santiago Solari surprised everyone on yesterday’s game against Club Puebla, when he lost his mind and run across the pitch to face the referee after a yellow card given to Roger Martínez seconds before. He was sent off without hesitation and is now facing a suspension.

Not only will he miss next game as a direct result of the red card he was shown, but according to Liga MX’s rulebook, he broke at least two established rules, one that prevents coaches of getting into the pitch without previous permission and the other for getting into the pitch to insult rival players or referees.
For the first broken rule he could miss between 1 and 6 games and a fine between $236 and $43300. For the second rule he can miss from 1 to up to 8 games and a fine of $48110, meaning Solari could miss for up to 15 games, almost the entire Clausura 2022 regular season.

As a result of both red cards Club América was shown on the season opener against Club Puebla, Santiago Solari couldn’t be part of the press conference after the game. His assistant coach, Gilberto Adame, said that “It’s a myth the referees help Club América and today’s (last night’s) game was enough proof of it.”
