The sad news Cristiano Ronaldo posted on Instagram before Facebook Outage

On Monday, the internet was sent into a frenzy as the whole Facebook group of applications shut down. In what was a massive Facebook outage; Instagram, Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger, Oculus, Facebook Workplace, and all others were off for over 6 hours with social media users thrown into confusion. This included the popular footballers also as many took to Twitter.

However, before the Facebook Outage, 5-time Ballon d'Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo shared some sad news on his Instagram profile. The Portuguese international took to his social media account to share the news that the wife of one of his best pals, Jose Semedo, is dead. In his Instagram update, Cristiano Ronaldo revealed that Soraia Semedo had died last week. 

Cristiano Ronaldo wrote on his Instagram account: "There are times when everything takes a back seat, including football. Last week, unexpectedly, a fantastic human being left us, our dear Soraia, a wonderful mother and the wife of one of the best friends life has given me.

"Nothing can erase the pain felt by my brother Jose Semedo and his whole family. But we are together, today as always, in this time to face this difficulty. Rest in peace, my friend. We'll never forget you."

Alongside his Instagram post, Cristiano Ronaldo also shared a picture of him, his wife; Georgina Rodriguez, his son; Cristiano Ronaldo Jnr., along with Jose Semedo and Soraia Semedo having dinner at a restaurant.
