Back in the day, he was one of the most capable players in Liga MX, which opened a spot for him in Mexico National Team for a couple of CONCACAF Gold Cups and two Copas América, when El Tri was still invited to CONMEBOL tournaments.

“Bofo” Bautista revealed that between agents and promotors he was asked to pay $300,000 in order to be part of the final roster that attended the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After he revealed this, he disappeared from El tri and was banished from Liga MX.
