The Honduran team has decided to apply disciplinary measures against its players after the images of last Tuesday, which have cost the club disqualification.

The Honduran Olympia has announced the application of disciplinary measures to the club's footballers who received money after last Tuesday's game against Inter Moengo, from Suriname, by the Surinamese vice president, which has led to the disqualification of both teams from Concacaf League 2021.

The Honduran club through a statement has stated that it has been notified of the CONCACAF decision and regretted that its participation in the tournament did not end as it would have liked. In addition, said that it hopes that future Concacaf competitions will prevent "members who do not present the ideal conditions to be part of an event for professionals in this sport and for players with criminal records."

The Disciplinary Committee of Concacaf has thoroughly investigated the facts that threaten integrity, evidenced by the video that circulated on social networks after the match between Inter Moengo Tapoe against Olimpia, in which it is seen how the vice president of Suriname Ronnie Brunswijk, 60, owner of Inter and who also played in the game, is in Olimpia's dressing room and distributes money to the Honduran club's footballers.

Brunswijk, a former guerrilla leader, made his debut at the age of 60 with his own team, Inter Moengo, and played 54 minutes with number 61 and the captain's armband. The Disciplinary Committee ruled that Brunswijk, who is claimed by international courts, is prohibited from participating in Concacaf competitions for three years.

Ronnie Brunswijk: Why is he wanted by Interpol?

Brunswijk's football career for the moment will be limited to a single match since he will not be able to play the return match, since he cannot leave Suriname as he was signed by Interpol for crimes related to drug trafficking in his past. The politician of the South American country is a character accustomed to living with controversy since his adolescence as he is linked to drug trafficking and the world of guerrillas. Father of 50 children, bank robber in his youth, owner of a gold mine, and now also a professional footballer to complete the vital curriculum of a character worthy of study.
