According to EFE Deportes and Sport, the napkin that famously secured Lionel Messi's move to FC Barcelona has been auctioned today in London with a starting price of around €350,000, which is $376,000. The historic napkin is now available for private bidders under the British auction house Bonhams. The napkin marks a historic start to Messi's legendary career, which lasted most of his career at FC Barcelona, from the youth level to the first team.

On the napkin, it reads, "In Barcelona on 14 December 2000 in the presence of Josep Minguella and Horacio, Carles Rexach, FC Barcelona's sporting director, hereby agrees, under his responsibility and regardless of any dissenting opinions, to sign the player Lionel Messi, provided that we keep to the amounts agreed upon." Messi was 13 years old when he signed the contract with Barcelona, and the rest was history.
