Lucas Daniel de la Torre was born in San Diego, California, United States, on May 23, 1998. He is an American footballer who plays as a midfielder and his team is Heracles Almelo of the Eredivisie in the Netherlands.

He began playing soccer for Nomad Soccer Club and San Diego Surf, before moving to England to play for Fulham in 2013.
He signed his first professional contract in August 2015, a three-year deal, but would remain part of the youth teams. His early exit can be attributed to a Spanish passport obtained through his father's lineage.
De la Torre made his debut for Fulham on August 9, 2016, in the first round of the League Cup against Leyton Orient, starting the match and playing 88 minutes at Brisbane Road as Fulham won 3-2.
Fulham recognized him with two more appearances in the following matchdays, coming on as a substitute in the games against Middlesbrough and Bristol City. The midfielder stayed in the reserve team for the rest of the season and was only called up once for the game.
His first league game was against Bolton Wanderers on October 28, 2017, as a late substitute for Tomáš Kalas in a 1-1 draw at home.
He scored his first goal for Fulham in a League Cup tie against Millwall on 25 September 2018.
His departure came after seven years in England, although Fulham offered him a new contract. He described his departure from the club as "emotional" and "I didn't think it was going to be so hard".
De la Torre joined Heracles Almelo as a free agent for two years with the option for an additional season. The Eredivisie club was considered a good fit due to its “attractive, technical style of playing,” a sentiment shared by management.
He provided an assist in his league debut on September 13, 2020, in a 2-0 win over ADO Den Haag. He was also part of the Eredivisie Team of the Month for March 2021.
After being relegated to the outskirts of the national team picture, De la Torre could be back in Gregg Berhalter's immediate plans. He was a regular in the U.S. youth setup, appearing at the U-17 and U-20 World Cup. His senior international debut came in 2018 against the Republic of Ireland.
The player was also called-up for the USMNT to play the FIFA Date of January and February for the Concacaf qualifiers. Luca played just one of the three matches. The Heracles player started against Honduras where the Star and Stripes won 3-0.
