Giovanni Reyna: Who is the United States striker who breaks it in the Bundesliga and how much does it earn?

Since his arrival at Dortmund in July 2019 and, above all, since his debut with the first team in January 2020, Giovanni Alejandro Reyna, "Gio", has been dazzling BVB fans and managers with his talent in attack.

The American is a talented soccer player from a very young age. He joined NYCFC's youth academy and his talent was soon noticed. In April 2017, at just 14 years old, he helped his team win the Generation Adidas Cup (a competition for U-17s), where he stood out above everyone else and was named player of the tournament.

He then played a leading role in winning the prestigious U-15 youth competition Torneo Delle Nazioni scoring four goals (including the winning goal in the final against England) and four assists. In a fruitful but very strong 2017/18 campaign with NYCFC U-18 / U-19, the promising youngster scored 13 goals in 17 appearances.

Acquired by Borussia Dortmund

Reyna arrived at Dortmund in July 2019. His arrival was initially planned to be part of the U-19 team, but his talent exceeded expectations and he made just 16 appearances for BVB's U-19s.

His Bundesliga debut was not long in coming and on Matchday 18 of 2019/20 Bundesliga on January 18, 2020, Reyna came on as a 72nd-minute substitute for Thorgan Hazard; the match ended in BVB's 3-5 win over Augsburg.

He didn't need long to make his scoring debut either. In Borussia Dortmund's defeat to SV Werder Bremen in the round of 16 of the German Cup, he had his moment of glory when he scored BVB's second goal (78'). Although it was not enough to give his team the victory, he rewarded DT Lucien Favre for his confidence in him.

Since the 2019/20 season, when the American made his first-team debut, Gio has played 83 games, scored 16 goals, and assisted 10 times.

How much does Gio Reyna earn?

As of his 18th birthday in November 2020, Borussia Dortmund renewed the American's contract for 3 years and secured him an annual salary of €2.5 million.
