Drama in La Liga: Sergiño Dest tests positive for COVID-19 and almost all 20 teams report cases

Sergiño Dest tested positive for COVID-19, and almost all of the league's 20 teams reported cases, Spanish media revealed. 

In addition to Dest, Philippe Coutinho, Ez Abde and 7 other players of Barcelona also tested positive for the virus, further complicating the picture and adding to the drama at Camp Nou. 

This is because in addition to the casualties due to COVID-19, there are also casualties due to injuries that make Xavi's task of rescuing the club from the abyss in which it finds itself even more difficult. 

According to social networks and the Catalan club's statement, the players are in good health, but they are isolated at home, so they cannot be taken into account for Barcelona's upcoming matches. 

The USMNT international is the most recent case of the Blaugrana team, which has really struggled this season.

La Liga is suffering the onslaught of the virus and the Spanish media took on the task of finding out the extent of the problem.

And the outlook is not encouraging, almost all of the 20 teams in the tournament have registered cases. 

This has led to health protocols being modified so that teams can protect their players.

For example, one of the new measures is that all clubs will have to undergo a daily antigen test, provided by La Liga, at the club's facilities.  

With these precautions, La Liga seeks to reduce the number of contagions, since the containment mechanisms that were being implemented before could not stop the new wave of contagions.

Alavés

They register 1 player with the virus, but it has been revealed that he does not belong to the first team. 

Athletic Bilbao

Unai Simón, Iñigo Martínez, Jokin Ezkieta and Alex Berenguer tested positive before their matches against Betis and Real Madrid. 

Atlético de Madrid

So far there are still no cases but in these days they should be tested. 

Barcelona

Samuel Umtiti, Gavi, Clement Lenglet, Alejandro Balde, Ousmane Dembélé, Dani Alves and Jordi Alba have tested positive for the virus, as well as Philippe Coutinho and Ez Abde. 

Betis

Six cases have been registered so far. 

Cádiz

No names have been released, but the club has six cases of COVID-19. 

Celta de Vigo

With five cases registered, four of them conclude their quarantine on December 31. 

Elche CF

No cases have been registered so far. 

Espanyol

The club registers seven cases, which were registered this Monday. 

Getafe

So far no cases have been registered, and the team has started training with the full squad.

Granada

No cases have been registered, but tests are being carried out to ensure that the team is not infected. 

Levante

The club coached by Alessio Lisci has five positive cases. They are three players and two staff members. The names have not been disclosed.

Mallorca

One of the teams most affected by this wave of contagions, has seven positive cases in its squad. Four from the first team and three from the technical staff. 

Osasuna

After the positives of Íñigo Pérez and Chimy Ávila, the club has practically closed its doors to try to stop the contagions. 

Rayo Vallecano of Madrid

The rebound can definitely affect the good performance of the team that is fourth in La Liga. The club has a total of 12 people infected, including managers, coaches and players. 

Real Madrid

Although it was confirmed that Asensio tested negative, in the squad the virus has affected Modric, Marcelo, Rodrygo, Bale and Lunin. 

Real Sociedad

The club had ten cases and according to their investigations, the contagions occurred between Zamora and Villarreal. 

Sevilla

No contagions have been recorded yet but during these days the club's players will be tested. 

Valencia

Omar Alderete is so far the only player who has tested positive for the virus, but the team will conduct further tests for safety. 

Villarreal

So far there have been no contagions, but the club coached by Unai Emery will continue to do tests to follow up on the issue.
